Have You Laughed Today?
Today, I wanted to share a little something that always changes my mood—laughing. I consider myself a humorous person. I find things to laugh about, sometimes including something I did. Yes, I can laugh at myself. We all should do that, too. It takes the pressure off being so serious and heavy.
If someone ever told you, “You need to lighten up,” you need to lighten up. When we’re tense and uptight, we feel stressed, and that is not good for us. Lightening up is different from reverting to a childish attitude. Lightening up means not taking life so seriously. Flow more and let life unfold instead of having to control everything.
Dr. Paul Wright, Senior Vice President and System Chair of the Neuroscience Institute, Nuvance Health, states, “Laughing increases your brain’s production of natural painkillers and stress relievers.”
Laughing at something funny increases endorphins, which act as natural painkillers and stress relievers in the brain. Laughing can also quell anxiety and, according to the Mayo Clinic, may help decrease heart rate and lower blood pressure. *

Were you ever in a bad mood and you saw something funny? You instantly felt lighter, right? It’s as if a pressure valve got opened, and you could just relax. That’s what laughing does for us.
Always try to take a few moments out of your busy day to laugh.
