The name change reflects Dottie and Larry St. James. When the podcast began, it was only about Dottie St. James, so Funny Lady Life fit. But her husband, Larry, got involved early on, so it makes more sense to call it A Funny Life to represent both of them and their funny life together. That’s why you’ll hear Dottie use Funny Lady Life in many episodes.

It’s a new name, with new episodes, and new funny stories.

Dottie and Larry St. James are middle-agers who have some funny things happen, and they share the stories in short, 3-5-minute comedy podcast episodes.

Dottie St. James is an extraordinary woman, and she’d be the first to tell you that. Selling Avon for 27 years (and before that Tupperware for a short time) gave her the opportunity and reason to always show her best self. Her vast wig collection, curated closet full of beautiful clothes, and, of course, makeup that rivals a celebrity makeup artist’s toolbox help her put together a cohesive look from head to toe – every day, even if she’s only in the house all day. That’s Dottie.

After 27 years, Dottie felt a little burnt out, so when an advice columnist position was offered, she left Avon behind. But is she gone from Avon for good? You’d have to listen to find out.

Larry St. James, Dottie’s best friend and husband, is a heck of a guy. When he’s not teaching part-time as an English instructor at the local community college, he’s getting into trouble, mostly because of his effeminate, naive nature. And for some weird reason, the trouble sometimes involves kids that Larry insists have a contract out on his life.

So, whether Larry is trapped under a sink, snorting Vicks VapoRub every few minutes, or Dottie’s losing her wig somewhere, they are sharing it. Plus, Dottie loves to pass on her life lessons.
