What’s One Thing You Can Be Grateful For?

While listening to a YouTube video from Wake Me Up (highly recommend for positive, uplifting messages to start your day), I read the creator’s comment asking, “What is one thing you can be grateful for?” It made me pause and think about that.
Surely, we could all think of one thing to be grateful for. Right?
Just One Thing
You’d think that’d be easy, yet my interactions with some people make me wonder if they’re grateful for anything.
Why would I write that? How would I know what people are grateful for? That’s a private thing. It is, but if someone is miserable, always complains, can’t take responsibility for their actions, and blames everyone else for their issues, how could they be a grateful person?
I don’t know everything (no one does), but I think I can justify my opinion based on people’s actions. Because if you are grateful for anything (even one thing), whether it’s your life, your good health, your finances, whatever, you tend to be more aware of your interactions with others and appreciate them and life more.
So, can you think of one thing to be grateful for? Okay, good. Now focus on that. Put all other thoughts out of your mind and only think about what you are grateful for.
Stop reading and think about that for a few seconds. If you were anxious before doing this, thinking about what you’re grateful for can lower your heart rate and breathing. It can make you feel calmer. You feel happy because your thoughts are on something that makes you feel good.

Change is Possible
I read about and watched videos on gratitude and how it can change your life, but I didn’t let the message fully sink in. Sure, I felt grateful for things like my life and good health, but I couldn’t grasp the meaning of gratitude until recently.
The evolution occurred because I had had enough of living the same type of day over and over and calling it a life. I wanted to feel something more, and what led me to that is by appreciating what I have. It probably sounds strange that I could change my life just by being grateful, but I have. First, I had to change my thoughts.

Good Thoughts Bring Good Results
What we think about, we get more of it. If we’re grateful for what we have, we feel like we won the lottery. We believe we have enough and that we are enough.
Life reflects to us what we think about most of the time, and what our life is today is a result of our thinking in the past.
It might seem like hogwash that we can change our lives just by our thoughts, yet we really can. Focusing more on what we’re grateful for will bring more of that into our lives.
Try it. What do you have to lose? Your life is worth the effort. Keep thinking about what you’re grateful for, and your life will keep getting better.
Thank you for reading this.
To being grateful,
Francesca
